The U.S. Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) is requesting feedback on ways to maintain the privacy and security of confidential information in the use of mobile devices by healthcare professionals.
ONC is requesting public input on privacy and security issues and best practices for mobile device use. The agency defines a mobile device as "a handheld transmitting device with multifunctional capabilities used to store, transmit, and receive health information." This includes laptop and tablet computers, smartphones, and personal digital assistants, but it does not include storage devices such as USB drives.
