The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has awarded a patent to PACS developer VidiStar for its structured reporting technology.
Awarded on June 12, U.S. Patent No. 8200505 allows for a "system and method for creating and rendering DICOM structured clinical reporting via the Internet," according to the company.
VidiStar said its patented technology digitally autopopulates diagnostic data directly from the imaging system into its reporting software. This enables healthcare providers to remotely read their diagnostic studies from anywhere over the Internet, the company said.
