MMRGlobal recruits pro athletes to promote PHRs

Personal health record (PHR) provider MMRGlobal has entered into an agreement with Ron Brown and several other retired professional football players to promote the importance of having an electronic personal health record.

The company has retained Brown, the director of business affairs for the Southern California Chapter of the NFL Retired Players Association, to recruit athletes and professional entertainers to join the effort.

The first individuals Brown recruited are former NFL football players David Hill, Anthony Miller, and Mike Harden. The company said it's also in the process of recruiting professional wrestlers.

Members of the MMRPro Sports Team will participate in a campaign to educate the public about the importance of establishing a PHR, particularly targeting families with children who are active in sports. Team members will be asked to participate in presentations on the importance of having a PHR at children's hospitals, regional health fairs, and other events.

Brown will start the campaign on October 6 at a Marathon Kids event being held at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. The sports arena is where Brown won a gold medal in the 4 x 100-meter relay at the 1984 Olympic Games. The Marathon Kids program promotes running, walking, and nutritional fitness and healthy and active lifestyles for elementary school children.

MMRGlobal is offering complimentary use of its MyMedicalRecords PHR for a 15-day period for families of up to 10 members who sign up for the service at team events.
