The American College of Radiology (ACR) has expressed concern about the final stage 2 meaningful use rules released last week.
ACR said that the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and the U.S. Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT (ONC) released the final rules on an unusually aggressive timeline.
In a statement, Dr. Keith Dreyer, PhD, chair of the ACR IT and Informatics Committee, said it's ACR's hope that the new regulations do not sacrifice the needs of specialists and their patients for the sake of expediency.
ACR said it is reviewing the details of both prepublication final rules and will provide the radiology community with a consolidated, in-depth summary in the near future.
