The Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) has purchased CapSite, a healthcare technology and consulting firm headquartered in Burlington, VT.
The acquisition follows HIMSS strategy for its market research subsidiary HIMSS Analytics to expand its market intelligence capabilities on the hardware, software, and services selected by IT users.
The CapSite database provides pricing data on vendor products and services, HIMSS said. The current database contains more than 5,000 contracts in 160 purchasing categories representing 1,600 vendors.
The organization said that the purchase would capitalize upon the synergies of the combined data offerings. Data from HIMSS Analytics have focused on IT processes and environments, products, information system department composition, costs and management metrics, healthcare trends, and purchasing decisions. The CapSite acquisition will add pricing information.
With the acquisition, HIMSS Analytics will offer two new services: analysis of a vendor's position in its market and industry segment, and survey research to measure customer expectations, product development, marketing, and strategic direction.
HIMSS said that the Burlington office of CapSite will remain open and its employees, now HIMSS employees, will continue to work at that location.
