Speech recognition and software developer Nuance Communications has introduced Assure, a clinical language understanding (CLU) feature for Powerscribe 360 speech recognition software, at the 2012 RSNA meeting in Chicago.
Assure uses CLU to expand the software's medical terminology vocabulary while delivering new quality control management tools to the radiologist, according to the company.
The upgraded software provides immediate quality feedback and clinical documentation improvement recommendations to the radiologist on the fly. Improved artificial intelligence in software is better prepared to appreciate the context of the exam order and report, according to the company. Assure considers verb tense, negation, and historical references to identify conflicts the radiologist can address signing and coding the study.
