Attendance fell 6.3% at the 2013 edition of the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) meeting in New Orleans, compared with the previous year's show in Las Vegas.
In all, 34,696 individuals crowded the New Orleans convention center last week, according to a final audit by the organization. Of the total, more than 20,000 attendees were from vendors, significantly outnumbering the 13,985 professional attendees.
By comparison, the 2012 meeting attracted 37,032 individuals, according to a February 27, 2012, statement from HIMSS.
