Radiation oncology firm Elekta has entered into an exclusive agreement with Acumyn, a spin-off company from the University Hospital Network in Toronto to commercialize its integrated quality management system, AQUA.
The system enables multiple mechanical, dosimetric, and imaging quality assurance (QA) tests to be conducted, analyzed, and reported across the radiotherapy clinic.
The Elekta version of the AQUA system has been developed in collaboration with Princess Margaret Cancer Center in Toronto and is based on a system version that has been in use for over a year, connecting more than 20 machines, the firm said.
Features of the AQUA quality management system include the following:
- Workflow automation and streamlining
- Aligned to regulatory and professional body guidelines
- Centralized QA information management (database)
- Real-time automatic alerts to areas requiring immediate attention
Elekta will initially pilot AQUA at selected sites before adding it to its commercial portfolio, the firm added.
