Proton therapy developer Mevion Medical Systems and RaySearch Laboratories are extending their collaboration agreement to support the work-in-progress RayCare oncology information system.
Under the deal, RaySearch will develop planning capabilities for RayCare that will specifically support Mevion's S250i proton therapy scanner equipped with the company's new Hyperscan with Adaptive Aperture intensity-modulated proton therapy (IMPT) upgrade. Mevion introduced the Hyperscan with Adaptive Aperture proton micromultileaf collimator technology at this week's American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) annual meeting in Boston.
Designed for large-scale radiation therapy centers, RayCare will integrate the radiation therapy algorithms available in RaySearch's RayStation treatment planning software and also add features for clinical resource optimization, workflow automation, and adaptive radiation therapy, the firms said. RayCare is expected to be released in 2017.
