The Society for Imaging Informatics in Medicine (SIIM) and the European Society of Medical Imaging Informatics (EuSoMII) have signed an agreement to consolidate their collaboration to promote imaging informatics around the world.
The societies are striving to create an international multidisciplinary platform in which all facets of healthcare would participate and benefit with contributions from radiologists, clinicians, engineering and computer science professionals, imaging informatics professionals, and industry leaders.
The partnership will focus on education, research, and certification of professionals in imaging informatics, develop statements and guidelines, publish white papers and educational material, and offer online teaching courses and webinars.
"We have been working on formalizing this partnership for several years," said EuSoMII President Dr. Erik Ranschaert in a statement. "For me, it is an absolute honor and pleasure to make this great step forward in strengthening the position and importance of imaging informatics in medicine, especially for the younger generation. We have to join forces in order to improve digital innovation for the benefit of the patient."
