Enterprise imaging and software developer Intelerad is expanding its collaboration with Amazon Web Services (AWS) on the design of a cloud-native platform using AWS HealthImaging as a core component.
AWS HealthImaging is a Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)-eligible service for healthcare organizations and their software partners that is designed to store, transform, and share medical imaging data in the cloud at a petabyte scale.
Intelerad said that it will build a multitenant infrastructure hosted entirely on AWS, consolidating key infrastructure for PACS, Vendor Neutral Archive (VNA), and image-sharing workflows into a unified backend designed to provide enterprise scalability.
The platform will feature modern application programming interfaces (APIs) for seamless connectivity with other systems, support secure sharing of imaging data across organizations, and enable the streaming of medical images directly from cloud storage, reducing delays and costs incurred with traditional data transfers, according to the firm.
