FDA clears CardioNow cardiac PACS

CardioNow has received 510(k) clearance from the Food and Drug Administration for its Cardiology Wide Area Archive and Retrieval System, a PACS intended to provide long-term archival and retrieval, as well as Internet access by login and password.

The Encinitas, CA-based vendor’s system collects and displays information and images, and maintains imaging exams and related data for local review. Its compression technique is a lossy algorithm provided by the Apple QuickTime platform, which follows the MPEG-4 standard.
