Archive technology provider PowerFile has introduced Permanent Storage Appliance, a network-attached storage system designed to provide long-term online storage.
Permanent Storage Appliance consists of a 2U rack-mountable network-attached server and up to 18 DVD-based robotic libraries, according to the Santa Clara, CA-based vendor. A single system supports up to 12 500-GB SATA disk drives, providing up to 6 TB of cache and up to 30.6 TB of usable archive capacity, PowerFile said.
The Microsoft Windows Storage Server 2003-powered appliance comes preconfigured with storage management software, and includes hot-swappable, redundant components, PowerFile said.
