Dear PACS Insider,
With PACS, patient exam demographic data need to be kept accurately; errors could lead to diagnosis and treatment delays or worse. For the University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center (MDACC), a patient exam data reconciliation tool has proved to be an effective means of quickly and efficiently tackling PACS errors.
By taking advantage of the institution's automated PACS change request form, PACS technologists are able to swiftly reconcile errors, resulting in improved patient care, according to PACS technologist Tyran Mercer. Mercer discussed MDACC's experience with the tool during a talk at the 2006 Society for Computer Applications in Radiology (SCAR) meeting.
