Agfa HealthCare reported second-quarter net sales of 365 million euros ($466 million U.S.), up 1.7% compared with the 359 million euros ($458 million) turned in during the second quarter of 2005.
For the period (end-June 30), the Mortsel, Belgium-based division had earnings before interest and tax (EBIT) of 51.2 million euros ($65.4 million), an impressive 43.4% gain compared with the 35.7 million euros ($45.6 million) of EBIT posted during the same quarter last year.
Agfa attributed the sales growth in the division to the performance of its healthcare IT activities, favorable currency effects, and its recently acquired Heartlab operations. Worldwide RIS, PACS, and electronic health record (EHR) orders were strong during the quarter, driven by U.K., Canadian, and European placements, the company said.
