PACS software developer DR Systems is presenting its Unity enterprise imaging package for pathology as a work-in-progress at this week's College of American Pathologists (CAP) 2012 annual conference in San Diego.
The Unity pathology system allows users to view images, create reports, distribute images and reports, access patient demographics for multiple uses, view co-pays, and verify insurance, according to the vendor.
It also provides support of all clinical activities at the grossing station, such as dictation, speech recognition, audio macros, report templates, and specimen photography. Pathology worklist management with filters is included, as is case assignment, restricted exam access when necessary, sorting, searching, teaching files, peer review, and critical results tracking, DR Systems said.
Reports also contain hyperlinks that allow Internet-based viewing of key pathology images via a zero-download DICOM viewer on a PC, smartphone, or tablet computer, according to the firm.
