Display firm NDS Surgical Imaging has been acquired by GSI Group, a developer of laser, precision motion, and optical technologies.
GSI said that the NDS deal gives the firm access to the medical and surgical markets, in addition to expanding its existing medical OEM sales channels and leveraging GSI's expertise in color measurement. In addition, the medical applications NDS serves with its products are adjacent to several of GSI's existing medical applications, the company said.
The main products sold by NDS are high-resolution, flat-panel displays and surgical visualization products including displays, wireless imaging peripherals, and informatics and connectivity solutions. Nearly 40% of GSI's pro forma revenue is generated from the medical market, so the deal will help the firm achieve its strategic goals, the company said.
