Teleradiology services provider USARad said it has been awarded a patent from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) for a patent that describes a decentralized method of matching radiologists with medical imaging facilities and artificial intelligence (AI) companies.
Patent No. 10,803,985, "Method of facilitating Imaging Study Interpretations between Healthcare Facilities and Physicians Including Customization of Imaging Studies," was granted by the USPTO on October 13. It also describes a method for conducting immediate financial transactions to support AI development and teleradiology workflow, according to the company.
Their method includes receiving physician credentials from radiologists and imaging studies from healthcare facilities, request for interpretation of the imaging studies, annotation requirements of AI companies, physician selection criteria, access to the imaging study, and request for interpretation or annotations to qualified physicians whose credentials match the physician selection criteria, USARad said.
The patent was assigned to partner MDW.io and licensed to USARad Holdings.
