In a move aimed at expanding its presence in the cardiovascular market, enterprise imaging and software developer Intelerad Medical Systems has purchased healthcare analytics and cardiovascular information systems firm Lumedx.
For Intelerad, the deal broadens its product portfolio. Lumedx offers cardiovascular data analytics and cardiovascular information systems, such as its HealthView Analytics (HVA) software, which uses Microsoft's Azure Data Factory infrastructure to deliver insights from clinical and financial data from hospital information systems. The company also offers analytic software for other specialties, such as orthopedics, neurology, spine, and maternal/fetal medicine, according to the corporation.
In announcing the deal, Intelerad noted that procedure volume in the cardiovascular segment has declined significantly as nonemergency procedures were put on hold, but the company expects the specialty to rebound "dramatically" in 2021. Intelerad believes that healthcare providers will be looking to consolidate their enterprise imaging on unified single-vendor platforms to drive better efficiency and patient care.
The acquisition is the third for Intelerad in the last six months. The Montreal-based vendor purchased ultrasound image management provider Digisonics in December 2020 and bought cloud computing company Radius in August 2020.
Lumedx currently has over 650 hospital and health system customers. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
