Continuing its recent acquisition campaign, enterprise imaging software developer Intelerad Medical Systems has acquired Heart Imaging Technologies (HeartIT), a developer of clinical workflow automation software.
HeartIT is based in the Raleigh-Durham area of North Carolina, and it develops web-based image management software that's used both by clinicians and researchers in clinical trials of drugs and devices. The company was founded in 2000 and provides access to over 1 billion medical images via web browsers.
Intelerad notes that HeartIT was one of the first firms to offer a zero-footprint medical image workstation cleared by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
Intelerad sees the acquisition as giving the company the ability to expand insights into enterprise imaging data, while also expanding its footprint in the cardiovascular image management space. Other recent Intelerad acquisitions over the past six months include healthcare analytics and cardiovascular information systems firm Lumedx in early 2021 and Digisonics in late 2020.
