Global Healthcare Exchange expands European operations

Web-based equipment provider Global Healthcare Exchange will launch the company's first purchasing exchange for Europe during the second quarter. The exchange will initially focus on Germany, the United Kingdom, and France, with expansion across Europe set to occur by the end of 2001, GHX said.

At launch, GHX will offer online ordering with customer-directed distribution, online inquiry of order status, online order confirmation, product catalogs, and access to correct contract terms, according to the firm. GHX will also feature value-added services such as clinical information on a broad range of products.

The new European headquarters will be in Brussels, Belgium, with local offices in each country of operation. Eugene Dorff will serve as European general manager, while Steven Siers will be chief technology officer. Jan Willem de Cler will be director of sales and marketing.
