Electronic transcription service provider MedQuist has acquired medical dictation and speech recognition firm Speech Machines.
The acquisition of Speech Machines allows MedQuist to accelerate the rollout of its digital platform, according to MedQuist chairman and CEO David Cohen. Financial terms of the deal were not released.
Speech Machines will operate as an independent enterprise in the MedQuist organization, according to Marlton, NJ-based MedQuist. Alpharetta, GA-based Speech Machine's application service provider (ASP) technology offers healthcare providers and transcription service organizations a thin-client infrastructure, according to the MedQuist. The infrastructure allows them to manage report generation expenses on a per-line, fee-for-service basis.
