Siemens unveils two monitors, calibration software

Siemens Display Technologies has plugged in a new pair of two-megapixel monitors. SMM21126P is a portrait monitor that features multiple resolutions up to 1200 x 1600 with light output of 75 ft. lamberts. The Lafayette, CO-based firm said the new design features digital focus control and additional geometric correction circuitry.

The second model, SMM2192L, is a landscape monitor capable of multiple resolutions up to 1600 x 1200, with light output of 120 ft. lamberts, according to the company. Both new monitors use a dark-glass CRT for high contrast and feature cut-off control circuity, which Siemens says allows for long life and low cost of ownership. The vendor believes the monitors, which are available immediately, are ideal for clinical review stations.

The company has also released SMfit ACT calibration software. SMfit ACT (automatic calibration tool) provides digital access to all monitor parameters, such as geometry and focus. It is also able to perform automatic calibration and remote conformance testing of pre-set luminance settings, according to Siemens. The monitor can also load various selectable gamma functions to a LUT, and is compatible with multiple graphic cards, according to Siemens.

The software interfaces with Siemens monitors to automatically set and maintain pre-determined luminance settings. SMfit ACT's also can remotely access monitor data from a network, automatically perform conformance testing, and store the results to a log file, according to the vendor.
