Video capsule manufacturer Given Imaging is set to post sales of $7.4 million (U.S.) for the third quarter of 2002 (end-October 30). The results represent a 480% increase in revenue from the same period last year, according to the Yoqneam, Israel-based firm. Sales for the first three quarters are expected to exceed $19.8 million.
Given produces and markets its M2A capsule endoscope, a disposable video camera contained in a capsule that is ingested by a patient. The capsule passes through the digestive tract and transmits color images to clinicians. The product received CE Mark permission in May 2001 and U.S. Food and Drug Administration clearance in August 2001.
