Taking stock of RSNA 2004

Dear AuntMinnie Member,

The booths have been broken down, the carpets rolled up, and one has to assume that the cab line at McCormick Place has gotten a little bit shorter. Yes, the RSNA conference has wrapped up for the year.

This year's meeting again saw radiology demonstrate the progress that has fueled its evolution into one of the largest and most vibrant specialties in healthcare. Attendance continues to improve, with professional attendance up 4% and total attendance edging up 2% (see story at right).

AuntMinnie provided comprehensive coverage of the meeting with onsite reporting from the scientific sessions in our RADCast @ RSNA special section, as well as our Road to RSNA preview of new introductions in the technical exhibits. Meeting highlights included an article on the impact that obesity is having on medical imaging, as well as a story on how adding multiple CT technologists to a single CT scanner can improve patient throughput -- and profitability.

RSNA week also marked the launch of AuntMinnieTV, a new series of multimedia reports based on RSNA clinical and business news. You can view the first AuntMinnieTV segment, on new research using diffusion-tensor MRI in children with attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder, by clicking here.
