SNOMED, NHS to collaborate on standards

Healthcare standards group SNOMED International is working with a U.K. heath connectivity group to establish an international standards development organization.

SNOMED of Northfield, IL, is working with NHS Connecting for Health to establish an international group that would explore the establishment of the SNOMED Clinical Terms nomenclature as a global clinical terminology. The groups are talking with healthcare technology leaders to gauge their level of interest in the project.

SNOMED is a division of the College of American Pathologists (CAP), while NHS Connecting for Health is an agency within the National Health Service (NHS) in the U.K.
