Dear Business & Industry Insider,
When it comes to new start-ups in the radiology industry, most companies target emerging, high-growth segments like PACS rather than a mature field like CT, which is dominated by large multinational companies. That's about to change with the arrival of a new start-up firm that's developed a mobile, wireless CT scanner for dedicated neurological applications.
NeuroLogica was founded by veterans from medical imaging OEM supplier Analogic. Their executive roster includes Analogic founder Bernard M. Gordon, as well as other individuals from the company's engineering ranks.
NeuroLogica believes that the market for neurological CT shows promise for a low-cost, mobile CT scanner that can be cheaper and easier to site than a more expensive whole-body system. The company's CereTom system could be sited in emergency rooms, operating rooms, or interventional suites.
