The European Association of Radiology (EAR) and the European Congress of Radiology (ECR) have joined together to found the joint European Society of Radiology (ESR).
The organizations decided to merge to strengthen and unify European radiology and to ensure competitiveness compared to other radiological events and institutions, according to the ECR.
ESR will aim to establish a new research institute that coordinates research activities and supports major research initiatives, ECR said. It will take on a political role to generate influence on relevant European Union policies, create structured awareness campaigns to harmonize teaching programs throughout Europe, and create educational programs for countries where radiology is still not fully developed, according to the organizations.
