Dear Business & Industry Insider,
This edition of the Business & Industry Insider brings you the story of a start-up firm that's just begun U.S. commercialization of a novel development that could take advanced visualization to a new level.
The company is called Volume Interactions, and the system is Dextroscope. The system combines image co-registration software, stereoscopic eyewear, and mirror-based image projection to create virtual volumetric images that appear to be suspended in front of the user.
But users can do more than just look at pretty pictures. The system includes tools for image manipulation and measurement, and Volume Interactions sees neurosurgical planning as the first application for the system. Other applications, such as cardiology and oral and maxillofacial surgery, could follow.
What's more, Volume Interactions has the backing of one of medical imaging's largest companies, which owns a majority stake in the firm. Find out who it is by clicking here.
