Siemens Medical Solutions posts healthy Q3 gains

Siemens AG announced third-quarter results for its medical division, Siemens Medical Solutions of Malvern, PA, which proved to be one of the company's leading earnings contributors for the period.

For the period (end-June 30), the medical division posted 25% sales growth due to the additions of revenue from recently acquired diagnostics businesses, including Diagnostic Products and the diagnostics division of Bayer AG. For the quarter, the division had revenue of 2.43 billion euros ($3.34 billion), compared with 1.83 billion euros ($2.52 billion) in the same period of 2006.

The division's group profit rose 31%, from 235 million euros ($321.4 million) to 307 million euros ($422.5 million). New orders increased by 21%, from 2.09 billion euros ($2.87 billion) to 2.52 billion euros ($3.46 billion).
