The parent of Fujifilm Medical Systems USA of Stamford, CT, is folding its Fujinon medical endoscopy operations into the medical imaging division as part of a broader restructuring of Fuji's endoscope operations.
Prior to the restructuring, the Fujinon division sold optics and lens assemblies for the broadcast, digital cinema, and industrial markets, in addition to endoscopes for medical applications. The medical operations will now be folded into Fujifilm Medical Systems USA, while Fujinon's nonmedical products will be managed as a separate business structure and a subsidiary of Fujifilm North America.
The Fujinon medical products are a natural complement to Fuji's existing line of diagnostic imaging systems and software, according to the company.
