Despite the lackluster global economy, Siemens Healthcare produced double-digit growth in revenues in the company's third quarter of fiscal 2012 (end-June 29).
Revenues in the third quarter increased 17% to $4.07 billion U.S., compared with $3.49 billion in the third quarter of fiscal 2011.
Profit increased to $483.1 million, compared with profit of $9.76 million in the same quarter of fiscal 2011. The quarterly profit a year ago was adversely affected by a charge of $40.3 million.
Siemens Healthcare also took new orders totaling $4.05 billion in the third quarter, a gain of 10% over new orders of $3.67 billion in last fiscal year's third quarter.
For the nine-month period, revenues in the healthcare business increased 8% to $12.02 billion, compared with $11.11 billion in the same period of 2011. The segment's profit increased 41% to $1.44 billion, compared with a profit of $1.02 billion in the same period a year ago.
New orders for the nine-month period increased 6% to $12.01 billion, compared with $11.4 billion in the same period a year ago.
