Veritas to build Pa. cancer treatment center

Radiation shielding protection firm Veritas Medical Solutions has won a contract to build a modular cancer treatment center at the Phoenixville Cancer Center in Phoenixville, PA.

The company's Veritas rapid oncology center facility replaces traditional concrete with ultrahigh density, environmentally friendly shielding modules.

Veritas module shielding packs weighing up to 22,000 lbs each will provide shielding for the cancer center. They will provide a finished structure weighing approximately 1 million lbs, approximately half the weight and half the thickness of concrete.

The shielding packs and prefabricated control models enable construction to be completed within a matter of months, according to the Skippack, PA-headquartered company.
