GE Healthcare today cited "U.S. challenges" and a "few rough spots" for a slight decline in revenue and profit in the first quarter of 2014.
For the quarter (end-March 31), revenues decreased 2% to $4.198 billion, compared with $4.3 billion in the first quarter of 2013. Segment profit slipped 4% to $570 million, compared with $595 million in last year's first quarter.
GE also reported that first-quarter orders slipped by 1% overall to $4.2 billion. Orders declined by 4% in the U.S. in the first quarter, but rose by 4% in Europe and by 10% in emerging markets.
