The Medical Imaging and Technology Alliance (MITA) said patients and healthcare providers will benefit from a new mandate from the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) on medical imaging and radiation therapy.
The mandate states that medical imaging and radiation therapy equipment in hospitals must be maintained according to the manufacturer's recommended maintenance standard.
The hospital equipment maintenance requirements took effect in January and implementation of the related Joint Commission standard begins July 2, MITA said.
