GE Healthcare CEO rejects talk of divestiture

The executive in charge of GE's healthcare business rejected speculation that the division would be divested by the company, according to an article by Reuters.

GE Healthcare CEO John Flannery told reporters at a Morgan Stanley conference that "all aspects" of the company's $18 billion GE Healthcare business will remain part of GE's portfolio, according to the September 17 article. The story said that analysts and investors had questioned how well the healthcare business fit with the rest of GE's operations, as the company sheds divisions that it believes are no longer part of its core operations.

Flannery cited the long-term growth potential of the GE Healthcare business as a reason to retain the unit, and said that the division was focusing on internal improvements.
