GE Healthcare produced flat revenue growth but higher profit in its first quarter (end-March 31).

For the period, GE Healthcare had revenues of $4.683 billion, essentially flat as reported but up 4% on an organic basis, compared with the $4.702 billion generated in the first quarter of 2018. The company also noted that it booked $4.931 billion in orders during the quarter, up 4% as reported and up 10% on an organic basis from the $4.731 billion in orders received a year ago.

GE Healthcare had first-quarter net income of $781 million, up from earnings of $735 million in the same period last year. The improved profitability was achieved by volume and cost productivity, which were partially offset by inflation, price, and program investments, according to the firm.
