Growth in Japan and Latin America helped power GE Healthcare to higher revenues for its third quarter of 2019.
For the quarter (end-September 30), the healthcare division's revenues increased 5% to $4.923 billion, compared with $4.707 billion in the same quarter of 2018. Segment profit climbed 13% to $974 million in the quarter, compared with $861 million in last year's third quarter. In addition, orders rose 1% to $5.141 billion in the third quarter, compared with $5.09 billion in the same quarter a year ago.
For the nine-month period, revenues nudged up by 1% to $14.54 billion, compared with $14.387 billion in the same period of 2018. Segment profit advanced by 8% to $2.714 billion, compared with $2.522 billion in the first nine months of 2018. Orders increased by 1% to $15.276 billion, compared with $15.141 billion in the same nine-month period of 2018.
