The American Board of Radiology (ABR) has named long-time volunteer Dr. John Kaufman as the board of governors' secretary-treasurer.
A volunteer since 1997, Kaufman replaces Dr. Robert Barr, who was named president-elect earlier this year.
Kaufman is the inaugural chair of the department of interventional radiology, director of the Dotter Interventional Institute, and the Frederick S. Keller Professor of Interventional Radiology at the Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) in Portland. He is also a professor of diagnostic radiology, surgery, and medicine at OHSU.
He has authored or co-authored more than 200 publications, including five textbooks, and is co-editor of the quarterly review journal Techniques in Vascular and Interventional Radiology. He is also associate editor for the journal CardioVascular and Interventional Radiology.
