Change Healthcare recently released the newest version of its clinical decision-support software, InterQual 2022. The new version includes new and updated criteria for emergent trends, workflows, and artificial intelligence (AI).
The criteria suite has new additions and content updates, such as the inclusion of new guidelines from the American College of Cardiology and American Heart Association for managing chest pain, as well as expanded tools for transition planning and social determinants of health. A new content module has also been developed through an exclusive partnership with the American Society of Addiction Medicine.
The release also incorporates streamlined workflows for healthcare providers and health plans, such as the InterQual Decision Reasons add-on that gives organizations access to content used to communicate to patients why a service may not be clinically appropriate. Review-sharing functionality also allows for providers to electronically share InterQual reviews with payers.
Predictive analytics has also been added to the InterQual AutoReview software, which can predict the likelihood of a patient being placed in observation or inpatient status, as well as if patients will need a short or long hospital stay.
