Tellica Imaging is awaiting a determination of need decision and approval from the state department of public health in Massachusetts for an expansion of its business in that state, The Bedford Citizen reported.
Concentrated mostly in the western U.S., Tellica is a subsidiary of nonprofit Intermountain Health Services. Tellica began in Utah's Ogden, West Valley City, and Orem in 2021 and offers flat-rate pricing for imaging services. Intermountain also operates Tellica centers in Idaho, New Hampshire, Utah, Colorado, Montana, Wyoming, and Kansas, according to the company.
Tellica reportedly charges $550 for MRIs and $350 for CT scans. For the Citizen, Tellica's Chief Medical Officer R. Douglas Greally, MD, said the business is undergoing a determination of need process and awaiting approval from the Massachusetts Department of Public Health.
Massachusetts Health Policy Commission records show that Tellica has been in the process of entering into a joint venture with Boston-based BMC Health System to form Tellica Imaging Massachusetts, with three new clinic sites planned in eastern Massachusetts.
