Legislators in numerous U.S. states will be considering scope of practice bills in 2025, according to the American College of Radiology's (ACR) government relations team.
The ACR said it is tracking more than 58 bills in 22 states, including HB 2583 in Arizona, which would allow physical therapists to order diagnostic imaging; HB 1244 in Arkansas, which would grant full independent practice authority to a certified nurse practitioner (CNP) or a clinical nurse specialist (CNS); and numerous licensure compact bills that would allow various healthcare professionals to practice in other compact states.
Maryland state legislators are also considering HB 820, a bill that would require submitting to Maryland Commissioner of Health information about AI, algorithms, or other software tools, especially if connected to adverse events.
