X-ray vendor Del Global Technologies of Valhalla, NY, has set its sights on Europe. The company has acquired 19% of Italian x-ray firm Villa Sistemi Medicali, with an option to increase its position to 80%.
Del has set a steady acquisition pace over the past several years, buying several small and mid-sized x-ray firms in an effort to grow its position as a supplier of cost-effective radiography systems. The Villa Sistemi deal gives Del added heft in Europe, especially in Italy, where Villa generates 25% of its $20 million in annual revenues. Del has minimal sales in Italy, according to the company. Del also will gain access to the dental market through Villa's products.
The companies plan to aggressively sell each other's products in their respective home markets. Del systems will be sold in Europe by Villa, while Del will market Villa products in North and South America.
