Fuji Medical Systems USA has improved its x-ray film-finishing capabilities as part of a $300 million expansion of a manufacturing complex in Greenwood, SC, by parent Fuji Photo Film. As part of the project, an x-ray film-finishing addition has been added to the facility. Construction has just been completed.
The new addition will allow Fuji to provide a varied mix of x-ray film products, and will allow x-ray film to be finished, cut and packaged in the U.S., rather than in Japan, according to the Stamford, CT-based firm. As a result, Fuji expects to be able to customize film and provide quicker turnaround on orders.
The new capability serves as a first step towards total U.S. production of Fuji x-ray film for the U.S. market, according to Fuji.
