Digital radiography developer Schick Technologies reported a drop in revenue for its fiscal 2001 second quarter (end-September 30), although the Long Island City, NY, company's net loss narrowed.
For the period, Schick posted sales of $3.4 million, down 26% compared to revenues of $4.6 million in the same period the year before. Schick's net loss for the quarter was $2.3 million, compared to a net loss of $3.6 million in the corresponding quarter a year ago.
Schick said the revenue decline was due to a change in the company's distribution strategy, with some of its dental products now being sold by Patterson Dental Company. Schick said that it made progress on the bottom line through spending reductions and improvements in gross margins.
