The GE Foundation has awarded a $2 million grant to Louisiana Public Health Institute (LPHI) in New Orleans as part of GE's Developing Health program.
The grant will underwrite a program led by School Health Connection in Orleans Parish, LA, to provide students with increased access to healthcare through school-based health centers.
The grant will help LPHI and its partner organizations build upon previous philanthropic and government investments that were received following Hurricane Katrina to stabilize access to healthcare in the New Orleans area.
There are 38,000 students across Orleans Parish.
