ACR expert weighs in on new CMS guidelines for No Surprises Act

Medical societies including the American College of Radiology (ACR) recently published a letter criticizing new federal guidelines related to the No Surprises Act.

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services on October 6 issued the new guidance in response to an August ruling that vacated several provisions of the existing No Surprises Act regulations. The letter criticizes the guidelines’ points on calculating qualifying payment amounts, informal dispute resolutions, and batched determinations through the federal independent dispute resolution portal.

Kathryn Keysor, Senior Director of Economic Policy at the ACR, discussed the potential impact of these guidelines to AuntMinnie.com. She talked about the burden that these new guidelines may add to radiology practices.
