Fewer MRI scans, hurricanes cut Alliance Imaging's Q3

Softer-than-anticipated MRI scan volumes, the effects of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, and rising fuel and transportation costs hurt Anaheim, CA-based Alliance Imaging's third-quarter financial performance.

Revenue slipped 3% to $106.2 million, compared with $109.8 million in the third quarter of 2004. Net income dropped to $5 million, compared with $7 million in the same quarter a year ago.

For the first nine months of 2005, revenue decreased 1% to $320.6 million, compared with $324.9 million in the same period of 2004. Net income fell to $17.3 million, down from $23.2 million in the same period of 2004.
