The Access to Medical Imaging Coalition (AMIC) said that it has ramped up its efforts in the current U.S. Congress to delay imaging reimbursement cuts included in the Deficit Reduction Act (DRA) of 2005, which are scheduled to begin in January 2007.
The AMIC, a lobbying group of physicians, patients, and providers formed to oppose the DRA, is running advertisements this week in Roll Call and Congress Daily that count down the days until initiation of the DRA. The ads also call on representatives and senators to support passage of the Access to Medicare Imaging Act (H.R. 5704, S. 3795), which would delay implementation of the DRA's cuts in imaging reimbursement for two years.
In addition, the organization sent a letter last week to Speaker of the House of Representatives Dennis Hastert, urging passage of H.R. 5704 before adjournment of the 109th Congress.
