Technologist arrested for credit card fraud

Florida authorities have arrested a radiologic technologist on suspicion of stealing credit cards from patients while they underwent imaging exams.

Police in Fort Myers arrested Noel Robertson and have charged him with eight felony counts related to the thefts, according to a story by WBBH-TV of Fort Myers. Robertson was employed by Radiology Regional Center in Fort Myers, where two patients who received imaging exams later reported that their credit cards were stolen.

The news report said that Robertson was arrested after surveillance video showed a man wearing blue hospital scrubs and a radiation dosimeter buying items at a local Wal-Mart using a credit card allegedly stolen from one of the patients. A Fort Myers detective investigating the case focused on Radiology Regional after seeing that personnel there wore scrubs similar to those in the video.

Robertson allegedly matched the suspect on the surveillance video and was the technologist who attended to both of the theft victims, according to WBBH-TV. Police are investigating further to see if there were other victims of theft, the report said.

Radiology Regional Center fired Robertson shortly after the arrest, according to the report.
